Getting Started

Acupuncture can support a wide range of health concerns, including pain relief, stress and anxiety, sleep issues, digestive health, hormonal balance, fertility support, and overall wellness.

As a licensed acupuncturist, I focus on treating the whole person rather than just symptoms. Acupuncture treatments are customized to your unique health history, current symptoms, and wellness goals.

Acupuncture is a safe, natural therapy for many people and can be helpful whether you’re seeking relief from a specific condition or looking to improve overall health and balance.

If you’re unsure whether acupuncture treatment is right for you, you’re welcome to reach out with questions before booking. I’m happy to help you decide if acupuncture is a good fit for your needs.

No referral is required to schedule an acupuncture appointment. You can book directly online without a physician’s referral.

Acupuncture works well alongside conventional medical care, and many patients choose to receive acupuncture while also working with other healthcare providers.

Your first acupuncture appointment includes a comprehensive intake, a discussion of your health history and symptoms, and a customized acupuncture treatment.

This initial visit allows your acupuncturist to understand your health goals and create a treatment plan designed to support long-term healing and wellness.

To get the most benefit from your acupuncture treatment, please:

  • Eat a light meal or snack before your appointment

  • Drink plenty of water

  • Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing

  • Avoid strenuous exercise immediately before or after treatment

Proper preparation helps ensure a comfortable and effective acupuncture session.

Treatment and Results

Healing is a process, and the number of acupuncture treatments needed varies from person to person. While acupuncture is not a quick fix, many people begin to notice improvement within the first 3–4 acupuncture treatments.

Some conditions respond quickly, while others—especially chronic or long-standing concerns—may require ongoing acupuncture care over several weeks or months to achieve lasting results. During your initial visits, we’ll regularly assess how your body is responding and adjust your acupuncture treatment plan as needed.

The best outcomes often happen when patients are active participants in their own healing. When appropriate, I may offer lifestyle or dietary recommendations to support your acupuncture treatments and help your body heal more effectively. While this guidance isn’t always necessary, patients who engage in the process often experience deeper and longer-lasting results.

The recommended frequency of acupuncture treatments depends on your condition, symptoms, and overall health. At the beginning of care, weekly or biweekly acupuncture sessions are common to build momentum and support change in the body.

As symptoms improve, treatments are often spaced out to maintenance or as-needed visits. We’ll work together to create a treatment schedule that feels realistic, supportive, and aligned with your health goals.

Initial acupuncture visits typically last 60–80 minutes, while follow-up acupuncture sessions last 50–60 minutes. This includes time to check in, receive your treatment, and rest comfortably with the needles in place.

After an acupuncture session, many people feel relaxed, calm, or refreshed. Others may feel tired or notice subtle shifts in their body or emotions as the nervous system and body begin to rebalance.

Occasionally, symptoms may temporarily fluctuate before improving. This is a normal response to acupuncture treatment and something we can discuss as your care continues.

Not everyone experiences immediate results from acupuncture. Some changes are subtle at first, and for chronic or long-standing conditions, improvement often happens gradually over time.

If you’re not noticing changes after several acupuncture treatments, we’ll reassess your treatment plan and discuss next steps. Open communication is always encouraged.

The duration of acupuncture results varies depending on the condition being treated and how long it has been present. Some people experience long-lasting relief, while others benefit most from periodic maintenance acupuncture treatments.

The goal of acupuncture care is to help your body function better over time—not just provide short-term symptom relief.

The Experience

Acupuncture is generally not painful. The needles used in acupuncture are very thin—much thinner than needles used for injections or blood draws.

Most people feel little to no discomfort when the needles are inserted. Some may notice brief sensations such as tingling, warmth, heaviness, or a dull ache. These sensations are normal and often indicate that the acupuncture treatment is working.

During an acupuncture session, many people experience a sense of deep relaxation. Sensations may include warmth, tingling, heaviness, or gentle movement around the needle sites.

Once the needles are in place, most patients rest comfortably and many even fall asleep. Each acupuncture experience is unique, and sensations can vary from session to session.

Your acupuncture treatment begins with a brief check-in about how you’re feeling and any changes since your last visit. Based on this information, your acupuncturist will select acupuncture points tailored to your specific symptoms and health goals.

Sterile, single-use needles are gently inserted and remain in place while you rest quietly. The treatment is designed to support balance, circulation, and your body’s natural healing response.

During an acupuncture session, needles typically remain in place for 20–30 minutes. This allows your body time to respond to the treatment while you relax.

Many patients find this part of the session deeply calming.

During your acupuncture appointment, you may feel relaxed, grounded, or deeply calm. After treatment, many people report feeling refreshed, centered, or more at ease.

Some individuals feel tired or notice subtle physical or emotional shifts following acupuncture. These responses are normal and usually temporary as the body integrates the treatment.

Yes. Feeling tired, emotional, or more aware of your body after acupuncture is a common and normal response. Acupuncture works with the nervous system, and these reactions often indicate that your body is processing and rebalancing.

Rest, hydration, and gentle self-care after your session can help support this process.
