Traditional Chinese Medicine

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), is a holistic healthcare system that has been practiced for thousands of years. TCM views the body as a complex system where health is maintained through the balance of energy, or Qi (pronounced "chee"), flowing smoothly through meridians or pathways in the body.

One of the most well-known therapies within TCM is acupuncture, but there is also a variety of other modalities including dietary therapy, cupping, gua sha and moxibustion. These therapies work synergistically to support the body's innate healing abilities and promote overall well-being.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture involves the insertion of thin needles into specific points along the body's meridians to stimulate the flow of Qi and restore balance. Acupuncture is known for its effectiveness in treating a wide range of conditions, from pain management to stress relief to digestive issues.

At Vibrant Health we specialize in gentle acupuncture techniques so that your experience is both comfortable and therapeutic.

Cupping

Cupping involves placing cups, typically made of glass, silicone, or plastic, on the skin and creating a vacuum or suction effect.  The suction created by cupping stimulates the flow of Qi and blood within the body, promoting the circulation of energy and fluids, and helping to remove stagnation or blockages that may be causing pain or illness. Cupping is often used to address conditions such as muscle tension, pain, inflammation, respiratory issues, and even emotional stress.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion involves burning mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) near specific acupuncture points on the body. This therapy aims to stimulate these points and promote the flow of Qi in the body. Moxibustion can help alleviate pain, reduce inflammation, boost circulation, strengthen the immune system, and improve overall well-being. It is often used in conjunction with acupuncture to enhance treatment outcomes and address a variety of health conditions.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese therapy that involves scraping the skin with a smooth-edged tool to promote circulation and healing. This technique helps release tension, reduce inflammation, and improve blood flow to the treated area. Gua Sha can alleviate muscle pain, stiffness, and tension, while also stimulating the immune system and promoting detoxification. It is commonly used to relieve musculoskeletal issues, headaches, and respiratory conditions.
